Erica Hopeman is a crime writer working on her second novel. She is seeking representation for her debut, a police procedural set in Scotland’s Fife. Fife is caught between two great east-flowing rivers, the Firth of Tay to the north and the Firth of Forth to the south. The most eastly corner of the peninsula abutting the North Sea, known as the East Neuk, is edged with picturesque villages nestling around natural harbours.

Erica dabbled in journalism before beginning her working life in medical publishing in the south of England. She moved back to Aberdeen in Scotland and into the NHS. She now lives in Perth. Gradually her interests centred on wanting to understand more about the psychology of change. She became an organisational consultant and executive coach, working with the police, the government and many other industry sectors, while also qualifying as a psychoanalytical psychotherapist.

Stories from Home

Erica has a short story, ‘The Secret of Jessie Brock’ published in Stories from Home, an anthology of stories and poems donated by published and unpublished writers to raise money for Ambulance Staff during the pandemic. A second anthology is due early 2022.

“Writing crime fiction is how I stretch my muscles to explore the darker reaches of human nature. I not only want to know who, but why. Why? And I share this near-obsessive inquisitiveness with so many fellow readers of crime – certainly the lovely ones I know.”
